Perspective: ‘The Abstract Image’ Explores Inner Reality

The Abstract Image, juried by Adam Finkleston, opens May 6 and runs through May 28 at the SE Center for Photography in Greenville, South Carolina. Opening reception is Friday, May 6 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Val Mirage 2, a digital photograph from the Robert Koss Smash-up, Mash-up series, was selected for the show and is featured on the cover of the catalog.

You can literally flip through The Abstract Photograph ’22 catalog to see the amazing works of imagery. The abstract photographs explore non-representational imagery, from found objects in nature, man made or figurative works. Images that do not attempt to represent external reality, but seek to achieve its effect using shapes, forms, colors, and textures.

“Bréguet 14 Mash-up” is featured in the Primary Colors 2020-21 Exhibition currently showing at the New York Center for Photographic Arts (NYC4PA)

From the Gallery website:

RED, YELLOW, and BLUE tubes of paint are the basic building blocks for all the colors of the rainbow. They also stand alone, individually, as strong primary color artistic elements.

Artists were invited to submit images where one of these PRIMARY COLORS stands out as a focal part of the photograph.

Juror: Ann M. Jastrab, executive director of the Center for Photographic Art in Carmel California.
